Penn State Harrisburg is currently accepting applications for two positions. They include a Senior Technical Specialist (RMC Program Manager) and a Technical Coordinator II.
Senior Technical Specialist (RMC Program Manager)
Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a Program Manager in the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, Inc (RMC). The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and management of programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of those whose business or profession supports the processing, use, marketability, sales or purchase of recycled materials or recycled content products in Pennsylvania. Duties include: collect recycling, manufacturing, processing and materials research information from a variety of sources, analyze it and turn it into valuable data to be disseminated by the Recycling Markets RMC. Work to develop training programs on materials science, recycling technologies/methodologies. The Program Manager will assist manufacturers, processors and formulators to begin using or increase the use of recycled content in their products. Other duties include planning, organizing, grant-writing, staffing, leading, and delivering RMC program services as appropriate. Travel is required. Requires Master’s degree or equivalent, plus three years of work-related experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded through June 30, 2009 with excellent possibility of re-funding. Technical Coordinator II
Penn State Harrisburg is accepting applications for a Technical Coordinator II in the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, Inc. (RMC). Primary duties include assistance with development and execution of projects and programs that encourage innovative or additional product uses for recycled materials. Assist in the coordination of RMC services with various partner organizations and in the coordination of services through the RMC’s Recycled Materials Processing Center of Excellence Program. Responsible for consolidating data to present outcomes and successes of the RMC. The job involves work both in the office and in the field. This job involves interacting with businesses, organization partners, and government representatives in large group settings. Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus two years of work-related experience. Experience in business/economic development, recycling/solid waste management, or markets development are advantageous. Project management, written and oral communication, knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, graphics design, and Web page design are desirable.
