The Recycling Industries Congress 2011 that took place Tuesday, Feb. 15, in the Capitol East Wing Rotunda in Harrisburg is a first — the first time that the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association and the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center have joined forces to put a spotlight on the economic importance of recycling to Pennsylvania.
But it probably won't be the last time.
Harrisburg, PA – Through intersecting the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) with electronics manufacturers; electronics-scrap recyclers; industry associations; disposal and hauling representatives; and policy makers; The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, Inc., (RMC) facilitated launch of Pennsylvania’s new Act 108, the Covered Device Recycling Act (CDRA). All gathered to receive an overview from DEP on the Covered Device Recycling Act (CDRA).
Sunbury, PA - Weis Markets announced on December 9, 2010 that they are partnering with the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center, Inc., (RMC) as a Center of Excellence Business Partner to develop new markets for the recyclable materials generated by the 164 stores, distribution center and manufacturing facilities. Weis Markets is the first food retailer to partner with the RMC.

The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) is proud to sponsor a Manufactured Soils Workshop at Ridgewood Soils, Inc., Reading, PA on July 15, 2010. It is a hands-on, in the field, one-day workshop for soil blenders and topsoil suppliers, composters, green building professionals, and the landscape and nursery industry.
The workshop will feature teaching and practical advice from Penn State University Soil Science faculty, a tour of the Ridgewood soil blending facility, and the opportunity to blend and evaluate your own soil.
At the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) April Board of Directors meeting Michele Nestor, President of Nestor Resources Inc., was unanimously elected Board Chair for the 2010-2011 term. Ms. Nestor succeeds Jim Shillenn, Executive Director of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC). Robert Anderson, national business development director for Casella's FCR Recycling was elected as the Secretary. Robert Bylone, Jr., RMC Executive Director, remains as President of the non-profit corporation.
